Adznir Mokhtar is a Consultant and Trainer with over 30 years’ experience in areas covering strategic management, technology management, manufacturing system, quality, performance management, competency management and entrepreneurship; gained through his wide experience working in industry, academia, government and business.
He graduated with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Leeds, UK and later obtained his MSc in CADCAM from University of Cranfield, UK. He received his Doctorate Degree in the field of Entrepreneurship from Southern Cross University Australia.
He attained his experience in quality and manufacturing management during his working years with Motorola Malaysia and Motorola UK. He later joined University Putra Malaysia as a Lecturer and then seconded to the Prime Minister's Department as the Special Officer/ Assistant Director at the Office of the Science Advisor.
He is one of the founding members of the management team for Malaysia Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) in 1993, where he holds the position as the Senior General Manager for Strategic Programmes. He is also one of the key people involved in the initial design of the Smart Partnership activities, leading to the creation of the Langkawi International Dialogue in 1995. He played a key role in organising the LID in 1996
In 1998, he led the establishment of PRIMA Consulting Malaysia (PCM) as a spin off from MIGHT's Strategic Programme Division. PCM focuses in the areas of Strategic & Technology Management, Information Management, Performance Management and Entrepreneurship Management. The above four areas formed the core business activities of the company.
He has led, consulted and also advised many key projects at the national and international levels such as:
During his tenure in MIGHT, he played a leading role in coordinating the initial start-up of key national initiatives such as: the Formula 1 Programme into Malaysia; and the concept design for Negri Sembilan Technology Corridor which became the ENSTEK Science City.
In carrying out the various projects at national and industry level, he has been in interaction with hundreds of local and international organizations. Among key organisations in Malaysia that he has undertaken strategic consulting and performance improvement projects (in partnership with Motorola University) includes: EPU, MARA, TNB, PKNS, Desatera, BAT, MCMC, MSWP, UniKL, KHTP, Media PRIMA and Nuclear Malaysia. He has also been involved in consulting and training projects in countries such as Bahrain, Indonesia, Jordan and Mongolia. He co-reviewed the Royal Society’s publication - The Atlas of Islamic-World Science and Innovation for Malaysia.
He has helped ISTIC-UNESCO in Kuala Lumpur in managing the Training Workshop in STI Policy since 2011, and has further transformed it into the Certified Professional for Technology Management training programme under Tan Sri Omar Academy in collaboration with UTM. He was also involved in developing a similar programme for OIC countries, organised by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
He is currently the Managing Director and the Principal Partner of PRIMA Asia Pacific Consulting. He is a Professional Engineer (PEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member of Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (MIEM) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMechE), UK
He also has a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance (CDipAF) from ACCA, UK, a Certificate in Strategic HR Transformation & Organizational Development from Pennsylvania State University, USA; and a Certified Coaching and Mentoring Professional (CCMP-ITD). He is also a trained Assessor for Quality (QMI, UK) and in Technology Management (IAIA-Univ. of Illinois, USA).
He is now actively involved in the areas of Strategic Technology Management; Business Performance Management; Entrepreneurship Management; ICT Management; Personal Development and Workplace Skills.
